Write a How-to Article in 6 Easy Steps
STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR TOPIC.

STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR TOPIC
Choose a topic that interests you enough to focus on at least a week or two. If your topic is broad, narrow it down. Instead of writing about how to decorate your home, try to cover how you can decorate your home in a country style with a sharp budget. That is much clearer and, thus, easier to deal with.
Then write a draft that doesn't go down well with you. Stay relaxed, avoid getting analysis, and enjoy the process of sharing what you know. When you are done, you will have the blank bones of an article that you can only write. Then set it aside for a moment.
STEP 2: RELEASE YOUR NEEDS AUDIENCE
Now, go back to your part. Change gears and think you are a reader of this article. Choose three words to describe the audience you want to talk to (e.g., professionals, single men). Like this student, what questions would you like to see answered? You may not know the answers yet, but write the questions anyway; you will find the answers in the next step.
STEP 3: RESEARCH.
Research will really build your story. Good information on how to do this:
- Statistics
- Celebrity ratings
- Definitions
- Anecdotes (short stories, depictions of you or someone else)
- Quotes and examples from people like a reader, or from popular books on the subject
- References to other media (film, television, radio)
- Local references or local events (in the case of regional / local publications)
- Useful tools, resources or products (if there are many, consider creating a sidebar)
Collect all the items and put them in a folder, electronic text, notebook or whatever you like. Don't forget to follow the source if you are asked by the editor later to confirm it. You may want to filter your research in a different area than to collect it. Or just keep spraying your research when you get it. It's like cooking - play until you feel like you have "just fine."
STEP 4: STRENGTHEN YOUR DRUG
To keep your audience in mind, write solid drafts that include new support information you've collected. Sometimes what you learn in steps 2 and 3 can force you to start over with a completely new fix. Or you may want to update what you have as you go along, maintaining a good chat tone by talking directly to your audience.
At this point as you read your draft, ask yourself: 'Does it work? Is it too common, too simple, uninteresting, vague or choppy? If so, add some of your favorite publications to get articles. What methods do those writers use that you can use?
STEP 5: MAKE IT SPECIAL
Check again to see if you have installed all the steps associated with the process. The route to the articles should be well done. You want your student to go out and know exactly how to make a thank-you dinner on a tight budget, do that rugby, or find a comfortable place to stay.
If your account is in progress, or is closed in too many ways, separate it from the main points shown in the subheadings (as in this article). Compiling complex information and breaking it down into steps is very important for online writing, and it is a form of printing.
STEP 6: READ, REVIEW, REPEAT
Read draft of your article how it sounded aloud to a supportive friend. Next, ask a series of questions: Do you now understand the process? Are there any missing steps? Is there anything else she would like to know about this subject? Could he do this work himself? Considering your friend's suggestions, use good judgment in determining what changes, if any, need to be made.
